 y for this interesting session led by Dr Ardle MacMahon.</p>\n\n<p>The pu
 rpose of this presentation is to look at the physical remains of the thea
 tre in Pompeii in an attempt to place&nbsp\;these into the social\, polit
 ical and wider context of the settlement of Pompeii. As the emphasis is o
 n the physical and visible remains\, the lecture will not deal in detail 
 with specific plays as evidence is lacking but on the setting in which su
 ch events took place. This talk is linked to the Classical Studies module
 s A229 Exploring the Classical World and A340 the Roman Empire but is ope
 n to anyone broadly interested in Classical Studies\, Pompeii and ancient
  theatre. There will be an opportunity for Q&amp\;A after the presentatio
