Your questions. Your ideas. Your Students’ Union.

As promised in my manifesto, we are opening a monthly hour where you can speak directly with the President and Deputy President of Open SU.

Whether you are on day 1 or day 1000 of your student journey, your voice matters. This is a friendly and informal space where you can ask questions, share ideas, raise wider student concerns, or simply come along with a cuppa and listen to what other students have to say.

You can ask a question during the session or submit one in advance if you would feel more comfortable doing so. You do not need to be an expert, know how Open SU works, or arrive with the perfectly worded question. If something matters to you, it matters to us, and you are welcome in the room.

A member of the Open SU team will help support and monitor each session so that it remains welcoming, respectful and accessible for everyone. Different experiences and opinions are welcome, but we will always ask that people engage with one another kindly and respectfully.

We may not always have an immediate answer, but we promise to listen, be honest about what we do and do not know, and take questions away when further information is needed. Wherever possible, we will also share updates and follow-up responses after the session.

As this is an open event, we will not be able to discuss individual complaints, confidential information, or concerns involving named students or staff. However, we will make sure you are directed to the right person or process so that your concern does not simply disappear.

After each event, there will be a short feedback form where you can tell us what worked, what we could do better, and what you would like to talk about next time. These sessions should be shaped by students, not simply delivered to students.

So, bring your questions, your ideas and your honest experiences. Whether you want to speak, listen, or just find out a little more about what your Students’ Union does, you will be very welcome.

From day 1 to day 1000, we want students to know that their elected representatives are here, listening and ready to have the conversation.

This is your hour, your voice and your opportunity to help shape what comes next.

Come join the OU Pride Committee this Sunday evening at 7:00PM for games night! We will be playing Gartic Phone. Gartic Phone involves one person giving a drawing instruction (such as a cat with an orange on its head) and everyone else has to attempt to draw that instruction.

Laughter Yoga (01/09/2026, 13:30)

Come and join us for some Laughter 🤣

You don’t need any experience or equipment, and there are no Downward Dogs or other yoga poses. We play and laugh. The ‘yoga’ part is breathing, and maybe a short meditation at the end.

Laughter boosts happy hormones which reduce stress and depression. It also relieves pain, strengthens the immune system, boosts creativity, reduces inhibitions and much more

Ideally we all have our cameras and mics on so we can see and hear each other – laughter is contagious, just like yawning. You can of course have your camera turned off if you prefer. If you’ve got a lot of noise around you, please mute yourself.

CAUTION: Please bear in mind that laughter is cardio-vascular exercise – sometimes referred to as ‘internal jogging’. Take appropriate care if you have any health conditions where that could be an issue. You may want to seek medical advice, or simply start slowly and gently, see how you get on.
