Come and spend an hour with me, your President! I’d love to hear how things are going for you, what’s working well and what you’d like to see change.

This is a relaxed, judgement-free space where you can ask questions, share ideas or just come along and listen. All I ask is that we keep the conversation kind and respectful so everyone feels comfortable joining in.

There’ll also be a QR code on the day so you can send questions through Mentimeter.

I’ve heard your requests for sessions at different times of day, so I’ll be changing the time each month to give more of you a chance to join me.

I want this to be an ongoing conversation, so I’ll share updates on what you’ve raised, what happens next and where we can keep working together. Your voice matters to me, and I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

The Open University in Scotland warmly invites all new students based in Scotland who are starting modules in October 2026 to join our Welcome Events.

These sessions are designed to welcome you to the OU in Scotland community and help you prepare for study. You'll hear from OU staff, gain practical tips to help you begin your studies with confidence, and learn about the support available throughout your journey.

You'll have the opportunity to ask questions in a friendly and supportive environment and meet other new students who are starting their studies at the OU.

We offer 11 sessions for you to choose from – you only need to attend one:

The OU Pride Committee would like to welcome all OU students (LGBTQ+ and allies) to join us every Friday late evening for a couple hours of study in a supportive student environment via Microsoft Teams. Cameras and microphones are optional!

Each session will begin with a 10 minute welcome chat, followed by 50 minutes of silent independent study (mics muted). We will then have a 10 minute break, where attendees are free to put mics back on and chat to each other, before a second block of 50 minutes independent study.
