In the second half of this two-part online lecture, Dr Stuart Mitchell continues his exploration of propaganda’s development in the dictatorships of twentieth century Europe. Concentrating chiefly on the way in which these states depicted their enemies – real or imagined – the talk will show how the deepening paranoia of communist and fascist regimes was reflected in their propaganda output and will assess how successful their efforts were.
