Area Association Rep for Continental Europe
What this role involves:
This role involves understanding the challenges other students in Europe face, helping these students resolve those challenges, and representing those challenges to the wider student body and the Central Executive Committee.
What you’ve studied and are studying at the OU:
After completing my first degree in Maths with the OU some moons ago, I am now doing an LLB.
Why you decided to volunteer (and any previous volunteering experience with the Association):
I have no previous experience volunteering with the Association, but I do understand the differences in studying in the UK and studying from here in Europe, and I hope that I may be able to help my fellow EU students in some small way.
Summary of what you want to do in your role:
I would like to increase the visibility and awareness of the Student Association among students studying in Continental Europe, thereby improving the supporting role the Association can play for students who are more geographically-isolated than those in the UK. Although students in Europe may be a minority compared to UK students, I believe their voice is no less relevant, and I see this role as being an important way of making that whisper heard.
Any other interests you’d like to share?
I enjoy running, cycling, and pottering in the garden (with a pair of secateurs). I am an avid reader of biographies and tales of derring-do!
