Come and join us for some Laughter on Zoom 🤣
You don’t need any experience or equipment, and there are no Downward Dogs or other challenging poses. We do simple playful exercises and laugh together. The ‘yoga’ part is breathing, and maybe a short meditation at the end.
Laughter boosts happy hormones which reduce stress and depression. It also relieves pain, strengthens the immune system, boosts creativity, reduces inhibitions and much more.
We have our cameras and mics on so we can see and hear each other – laughter is contagious, just like yawning. It is a safe space, there’s no comedy or no jokes and we never laugh at each other.
CAUTION: Please bear in mind that laughter is cardio-vascular exercise – sometimes referred to as ‘internal jogging’. Take appropriate care if you have any health conditions where that could be an issue. You may want to seek medical advice, or simply start slowly and gently, see how you get on.
NOTE: I do record the session for security purposes (in case of gate-crashers). It’s not uploaded anywhere, and I delete it after the session.
How to join:
Head to the Welcome Week conversation on OU Student Connect, where all event links will be posted on Friday 26 September (the day before Welcome Week begins).
This ensures that only OU students can access Welcome Week events. You don't need to create an account; you will be redirected to your OU login page and can join OU Students Connect that way.
Please read our Code of Conduct before joining this session and keep this in mind when taking part.
