Overview

Ever wondered who writes Wikipedia? It could be you.

Join us for a relaxed, hands-on session where you’ll learn how Wikipedia works, why it matters, and how you can start editing it yourself. Whether you're into history, pop culture, science, or social issues, there’s a place for your voice.

In this session, you’ll:

  • Explore how Wikipedia is built and why it’s so influential
  • Learn how to spot good info and improve articles
  • Make your first live edit with friendly support

No pressure, no experience needed, just curiosity and a desire to learn about Wikipedia.
Come along, meet other students, and help make knowledge more open and inclusive.

Hosted by Jack Flaherty, Student Representative for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS)

How to join:

Head to the Welcome Week conversation on OU Student Connect, where all event links will be posted on Friday 26 September (the day before Welcome Week begins).

This ensures that only OU students can access Welcome Week events. You don't need to create an account; you will be redirected to your OU login page and can join OU Students Connect that way.

Please read our Code of Conduct before joining this session and keep this in mind when taking part.

This session will be recorded and shared on our website. By attending, you consent to your name and video appearing in the recording (you will be able to turn your camera off).
