Overview

Join Oscar Davies (they/them), a barrister at Garden Court Chambers, for a Pride session exploring the future of LGBTQIA+ legislation, free speech and academic freedom in higher education. The session will consider how equality and human rights law affects LGBTQIA+ students and staff, what current and emerging legal developments may mean for universities, and how institutions can approach difficult debates while protecting marginalised communities. Oscar will offer a clear and accessible overview of the legal landscape, including the tensions and uncertainties universities are navigating, with space for a moderated Q&A at the end.

Who should attend:

✅ Higher education professionals across academic, professional services, and leadership roles
✅ Those with an interest in equality, inclusion, law, and HE policy
✅ Anyone engaged in or impacted by current conversations around free speech and academic freedom
