Role overview
The PGR Representative has the primary responsibility for ensuring that Post Graduate Research students are represented regarding all areas of the student experience.
You will work proactively with staff based in the Open University Graduate School on the issues affecting PGR students. You will work closely with the Faculty Representatives, and others in the Student Leadership Team (SLT), on academic specific issues, bringing them to the attention of the appropriate people and pushing for a resolution.
Given the different experiences of PGR students, when compared to other students at the University, you will act as the link between the Students Association and PGR students to ensure that the Association is championing for the needs of PGR students.
Training
You will receive a thorough onboarding and training events in the first month of your role. This will include an opportunity to meet the wider team at the Association, as well key contacts at the OU. You will also undertake core volunteer training covering GDPR, PREVENT, safeguarding and equality essentials.
You will have the opportunity to undertake training that will help empower you to flourish and be effective in the role. Examples of some of the skills you will develop in the role include:
