We are pleased to announce that our star speaker for Welcome Week will be entrepreneur and TV presenter Amar Latif!
Amar will be joining us for Welcome Week on Wednesday, 30 September at 7pm to share his personal and professional journey, where you’ll even be able to ask him your questions.
About Amar
Amar lost 95% of his sight by the age of 18, due to an incurable eye condition. However, blindness did not prevent Amar from pursuing a successful corporate and broadcasting career. Following a Maths and Finance degree at Strathclyde University, he spent seven years working at BT, eventually heading up their Finance Division.
In 2004, Amar founded Traveleyes, the world’s first commercial tour operator to specialise in holidays for blind (as well as sighted) travellers, opening up travel to millions of blind and partially sighted people around the world.
You might have also seen Amar in TV shows like Celebrity Masterchef and The Last Leg, where his passion for travelling, as well as his positivity and determination, have made him a popular presenter and guest.
His achievements were recognised in 2023, when he received an OBE for services to the visually impaired and entrepreneurship.
