Student Led Group Leads are the main point of contact for their student group. They organise and host events, encourage students to connect with one another, and help create a welcoming, inclusive community where students can share interests, experiences and support.
Student Led Group leads will be the main points of contact for each group, those who organise events and host them, who support other students to come together and who are dedicated to build community for the wider student community.

What you'll do:
- Act as the main contact for your Student Led Group.
- Plan, organise and host online or in-person group activities and events.
- Welcome new members and encourage participation from all students.
- Create an inclusive, friendly environment where students feel connected.
- Promote your group's activities through Open SU channels.
- Work with the Open SU team to ensure your group runs smoothly.
- Help grow and develop your community throughout the academic year.
Who we're looking for:
- Current Open University students.
- Friendly, approachable and enthusiastic about bringing people together.
- Confident communicating with a diverse range of students.
- Organised and able to commit to planning occasional activities.
- Passionate about building an inclusive student community.
- Previous event organising or leadership experience is welcome but not essential—training and support will be provided.

Hours per week
Approximately 1–4 hours per week, with flexibility depending on your group's activities and events.
Training available
Training provided (online in 2026/7): Student Led Group induction, GDPR, EDI, Safeguarding and wellbeing guidance.
Ongoing training throughout the term of your role.

Online with face to face as an option.
