Are you an Open University student living in Wales? Do you have ideas, experiences or concerns about student life that you think should be heard?
OU students from across Wales are invited to become members of the Open SU Wales Student Panel – an opportunity to help shape conversations about the student experience, and ensure that the diverse voices of OU students across Wales are represented.
The Wales Student Panel brings together students from different parts of the country to provide insight, ideas and feedback on issues affecting students living and studying in Wales. The panel works alongside the Open SU Wales Representative, Rob Newton, providing a valuable opportunity for students to have their experiences heard, and to contribute to discussions to help inform the work of both Open SU and The Open University in Wales.
Two places available
There are currently two places available on the Wales Student Panel:
Panel members will meet once every quarter to discuss topics and issues affecting OU students in Wales. This could include identifying barriers students experience, bringing issues forward for discussion, and contributing to feedback that helps ensure students remain at the heart of decisions affecting their experience.
A chance to develop your skills
Being part of the panel isn't just about making your voice heard – it is also an opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience.
The role can help you develop your communication, collaboration and advocacy skills, while giving you the opportunity to work constructively with other students and contribute to the wider student community. Training is also available, including Open SU core volunteer training and an online induction for Wales Student Panel members.
The commitment is designed to be manageable alongside your studies, with approximately 2–3 hours required every three months. The role is conducted online, meaning you can participate from wherever you are in Wales.
Who can apply?
To be eligible, you must be living in Wales and registered at an address in Wales, as well as being an active Open University student.
You must currently be studying an OU module worth at least 30 credits, be an Access or Postgraduate Research student, or have completed a module and be registered for your next module.
There is also an academic progress requirement. Applications will not be considered from students who have failed or not completed their three most recently started modules at the time of application.
Your voice can make a difference
Students have different experiences of studying with The Open University, and those experiences matter. The Wales Student Panel provides an opportunity to bring those experiences together, and to help ensure that a broader range of perspectives from students across Wales is considered.

Panel Myfyrwyr Cymru – gwnewch eich llais yn gyfwng
Ydych chi’n fyfyriwr yn y Brifysgol Agored sy’n byw yng Nghymru? Oes gennych chi syniadau, profiadau neu bryderon am fywyd myfyrwyr yr hoffech eu rhannu?
Mae Undeb Myfyrwyr y Brifysgol Agored yn gwahodd myfyrwyr o bob rhan o Gymru i ymuno â Phanel Myfyrwyr Cymru – cyfle i helpu i lunio trafodaethau am brofiad myfyrwyr a sicrhau bod lleisiau amrywiol myfyrwyr y Brifysgol Agored yng Nghymru yn cael eu cynrychioli.
Mae’r panel yn dod â myfyrwyr o wahanol rannau o Gymru ynghyd er mwyn rhannu mewnwelediadau, syniadau ac adborth ar faterion sy’n effeithio ar fyfyrwyr sy’n byw ac yn astudio yng Nghymru. Mae’r panel yn gweithio ochr yn ochr â Chynrychiolydd Cymru Undeb Myfyrwyr y Brifysgol Agored, gan roi cyfle gwerthfawr i fyfyrwyr gael eu profiadau wedi’u clywed a chyfrannu at drafodaethau a all helpu i lywio gwaith Undeb Myfyrwyr y Brifysgol Agored a’r Brifysgol Agored yng Nghymru.

Bydd aelodau’r panel yn cyfarfod unwaith bob chwarter, gyda chyfraniad o tua 2–3 awr bob tri mis. Mae’r rôl yn digwydd ar-lein ac mae hyfforddiant ar gael.
