As the days grow lighter and warmer, we thought it was the perfect time to look at spending more time outdoors and improving physical wellbeing. Therefore, welcome to Open SU's 'Spring into action' week…
Join our Environment and Sustainability Volunteers who will talk about Open SU's Hedgehog Friendly Campus work on the OU campus and surrounding areas. There will also be some advice on how to make your garden hedgehog and wildlife friendly. Hope to see you there!
Join Senior Lecturer Dr Jitka Vseteckova, one of the lead academics from the Take Five to Age Well research project, as she talks about how choosing new habits in five areas – nutrition, hydration, physical activity, social and cognitive stimulation – can positively impact how we age.
This Earth Day, we are hosting a session with one of our sustainability volunteers, Victoria, on how to protect the UK's waterways. It is becoming clear that spending time around water is beneficial for our mental and physical health, but our waterways are also vulnerable to pollution. This talk looks at how access to natural spaces which include water can help us, and how we can protect these spaces.
We would love to see your pictures of how you are spending time outdoors this spring, and hear any tips you have for making the most of the better weather. Please tag us on Facebook or Instagram, or email us at su@open.ac.uk.
By the way, not all of you have had the opportunity to visit our beautiful Campus in Milton Keynes, so we wanted to share this video tour with you:
