Notice of Conference 2024

The OU Students Association biennial Conference 2024 will take place on Saturday, 15 June 2024.

To ensure as many students as possible can participate, the Conference itself will be held fully online.

The 2024 Conference will include a programme of inspiring keynote speakers, interactive workshops, and several opportunities to network with other OU students.

The Conference will be a fantastic opportunity to tell us what you think about the OU Students Association, how we can support you on your journey as an OU student and a chance to share your ideas on how we can create more opportunities that would be beneficial to you.

To help you form your opinion on the vote, we will be hosting a series of exciting student debates on the Conference Business and the issues OU students are facing. These will take place from Friday, 10 May until Thursday, 23 May. Sessions will be scheduled and communicated on our website and highlighted on social media.

The Conference is the equivalent of the OU Students Association’s Annual General Meeting and will include:

Ratification of minutes of Conference 2022.

Receiving the reports of the Board of Trustees and the Central Executive Committee (known as the Student Leadership Team) on the Association’s activities since Conference 2022.

Receiving the accounts of the Association for the financial years 31 July 2022 and 31 July 2023.

Considering any amendments to the OU Students Association’s governing documents – our Articles of Association.

Ratification of new policy positions since Conference 2022.

Appointment of the auditors of the OU Students Association.

Approving the list of affiliations of the OU Students Association.

Open questions to the Board of Trustees and Student Leadership Team from the members of the OU Students Association.

The voting period for Conference Business will take place from Friday, 24 May until Friday, 7 June 2024. A two-week voting window means that more students will have the opportunity to vote.

Discussing and voting on the Business items means you will be helping to make sure the OU Students Association makes a positive difference to all OU students. For the very first time, there will be no upper limit on the number of students who can vote and attend the Conference. All we ask is that you vote on the business in advance of the Conference taking place to be able to access the Conference activities and secure your place!

More details about how to join in with debates and how to vote will be shared soon, so keep an eye out for announcements in your emails, on oustudents.com news and our Conference webpage.

Alternatively, you can sign up for our monthly newsletter or follow us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram for updates.
