Visit to the Royal Albert Hall
Thursday 15th May 2025, 10.45am to 12 noon
Costs:
OU students, staff and alumni: £19 (please enter your Personal Identifier when booking)

Opened in 1871 and well known for the annual Proms Concerts, the building has been host to a wide range of activists, athletes and artists. From being the Suffragettes ‘Temple of Liberty’, to speeches by Winston Churchill and, more recently, shows by Beyoncé and Cirque du Solie. During The Royal Albert Hall Tour you will discover how the building was founded 150 years ago, the royal love story that made it happen, and how it solved one of the UK’s most enduring engineering challenges – the Royal Albert Hall echo. This tour will also include certain behind-the-scenes elements such as the royal areas, including the royal box and entrance. And, possibly, see an artist rehearsing.
