This is a session designed for students doing an EMA at any level in a traditional ancient sources focused Classical Studies module. This is a two-hour session that will deal with getting into the mindset of the EMA and what is expected in an answer. It will explore how to approach the EMA question in the context of a module. The emphasis will be on the importance of the ancient sources, how to critically engage with these, and incorporate this engagement into the EMA to support an argument to address question. It will also deal with the role of scholarship in EMA preparation and supporting the critical engagement of the ancient sources. Overall, the purpose is to support the skills you have already developed from your studies and assist you in further developing your confidence in how to approach the EMA in Classical Studies. This session should be seen as a supplement to the learning opportunities that are available to you.
The session will be led by experienced Open University tutor Dr Ardle MacMahon.
