This is a session designed for students doing an EMA at any level in a traditional History module. This is a two-hour session that will deal with understanding the nature of an EMA and what is expected in an answer. It will explore how to approach the EMA question in the context of a module. The emphasis will be on the importance of analysing and engaging with primary and secondary sources, so as to develop argument, historiography and narrative in order to provide a cogent answer to the type of questions that are found in EMAs.
Overall, the purpose is to support the skills you have already developed from your studies and assist you in further developing your confidence in how to approach the EMA in History. This session should be seen as a supplement to the learning opportunities that are available to you.
The session will be led by experienced Open University tutor Dr Martin Watts.
