Role training

All Student Voice volunteers are required to complete the Association’s training as soon as possible after being appointed. This is to ensure that you are well equipped with the information necessary to perform your role and are informed of any changes to the procedures or requirements. You will be also asked to complete a small questionnaire that will let the team know you have completed your training.

Optional Resources and Training

Optional training resources are also available for Reps who want to upskill and will be available throughout your term. These resources are there to enhance and further support you in your role and will be available as stickied items in your forums. In addition to the content we have specially created for you, we will provide you with links to videos and articles.

Here is a taster of what you can expect to access in the dedicated Volunteer Zone once you have accepted your role.

  • Committee skills.
  • How to write a report.
  • Jargon buster.
  • Using research as evidence.
  • Closing the feedback loop.
  • Gathering quality feedback.
  • Being solution focused.
  • Public speaking.
  • Signposting students.
  • Working as a team.
  • Listening skills.
  • Effective feedback
  • The Volunteer Handbook.

As well as providing you with online resources, we will host face-to-face training events where necessary and seminars for you to attend. All reasonable expenses for attendance will be reimbursed to volunteers.Students will be advised if the training is core or optional.
