Open SU and The Open University are collecting evidence to demonstrate how we embed sustainability across our organisations, as part of the Responsible Futures accreditation, and we are looking for a small number of OU students to volunteer as auditors.
Each volunteer auditor will be fully trained on the criteria and what they need to audit via a half-day of training. In small groups, auditors will then complete the audit over the remaining one and a half days.
When is the audit?
To take part in this opportunity, you will need to be available for the two-day audit on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 July (this includes the auditor training) from 9:30am to 5:30pm. This audit will take place online.
If you like the sound of this, but don’t have availability for the two days, you could join in by taking part in a student focus group which will occur during one of the two days. You can express interest in this on the form linked below.
Benefits of volunteering as a student auditor
What is a ‘Responsible Futures’ accreditation?
Responsible Futures recognises an institution’s commitment to sustainability, spanning the formal and informal curriculum. The Responsible Futures certification indicates that an institution has an enabling environment for sustainability to thrive, rather than an endpoint.
Depending on the number of criteria completed, the OU can achieve either a ‘working towards Responsible Futures’ or ‘Responsible Futures’ accreditation. Having participated in Responsible Futures this year, the OU will need an audit to verify their level of achievement…and this is where we are excited to receive your application to be a student auditor.
What skills do I need?
No technical knowledge is needed. Full training will be provided to fit in with any learning or access requirements. All you need is an interest in sustainability and social responsibility, and to be available for the audit days – 13 and 14 July.
Submit your application
Please complete the short application form below. Please note, this is an opportunity with limited spaces. A panel will review your application.
