Here at Open SU, we have three wonderful support groups, run by students, for students. These groups, who set out to provide a safe space for students from underrepresented communities, are led by brilliant student volunteers who hold a range of roles across the team.

The committees who lead each group are elected by their peers from within the groups’ community. Whilst these groups complete vital work to improve education and understanding of issues or barriers that can affect students’ learning, they also provide a community, offering like-minded students the chance to come together.

The Support Groups are spaces where students can share experiences, find understanding, and meet students with similar backgrounds. Whether focused on wellbeing, identity, academic pressures, or life beyond study, these groups offer connection and compassion in equal measure.

The volunteers who run these groups give their time to ensure that their fellow students can access safe spaces and events, and we want to say a huge thank you to them for their continued hard work. Open SU couldn’t do what it does without student volunteers. Your commitment embodies the very best of OU students, and we are incredibly proud to work to support you and deeply grateful for everything you do.
