The following is a message from The Open University regarding a phishing email circulated to OU students. Please read carefully and if you have been impacted by this, take the advised steps to protect yourself.

We are aware of a phishing email circulating this evening that falsely claims you have an outstanding tuition fee payment. We are actively investigating and taking steps to stop further emails.
This message is fraudulent and has not been sent by The Open University.
If you receive this email:
• Do not make any payment
• Do not click links or reply
• Delete it immediately
The email may:
• Use the subject “Tuition Fee Outstanding Payment”
• Come from a non @open.ac.uk address
• Ask for payment to bank details and confirmation to an external email
If you have already made a payment:
• Contact your bank’s fraud team immediately
• Report it to Report Fraud (0300 123 2040)
The Open University will never ask you to make payments in this way.
If you are ever unsure about a payment request, do not act on the email and contact us directly.
