Students in Scotland and Wales: shape your future

Devolved electionsScotlandwales

On 7 May, voters in Scotland and Wales will take part in the devolved elections, voting for their next members of parliament – but what does this mean for OU students like you?

Your vote helps ensure the unique needs of OU students are recognised, whilst shaping the future of your nation. These elections directly influence the quality, accessibility, and direction of the educational experience, and your views can make a real difference to key policy areas – including education, funding, and skills development.

Education policy isn’t ‘one size fits all’

Tuition support and funding models vary across the Nations in the UK, as well as access to grants, loans, and financial support. As an organisation, we keep our eye on policies around lifelong learning and part-time education, as they can have a huge impact on OU students’ lives – and these devolved elections give you a say in which policies are prioritised.
