Team Open played their second quarter-final match on Monday 31 March against University College London. Sadly they lost their match and were knocked out of the competition, but they had such a fantastic run this series!

Their performance in the competition was as follows:

  • First round, 19 August 2024: Open - 190, UCL - 175

  • Second round, 9 December 2024: Open - 180, Durham - 115

  • First quarter-final, 3 March 2025: Open - 90, Bristol – 135

  • Second quarter-final, 31 March 2025: Open – 105, UCL – 235

In their second quarter-final, they faced UCL again, a rematch of their first-round match where they narrowly won by 15 points. As Open lost both their quarter-final matches, they were knocked out of the competition.

The team consisted of Karie (studying Art History), Hector (studying MSc in Finance), Nicky (studying Natural Sciences), Tom (studying Physics), and reserve member Ashara (studying History). You can find out more about the team and how they found the University Challenge experience on our Meet the team page.

A big congratulations to Karie, Hector, Nicky and Tom for their fantastic performances, and for making our OU student community proud!
