Resources

A collection of resources to support people experiencing peri/menopause. Find mental wellbeing support, online hubs, and plenty of information!

National Support Network

  • A support hub in partnership with The Open University, providing a national network of support and wellbeing resources.

  • Free and confidential service available to all OU staff and students.

  • Helps to easily connect people with over 3,000 safe, reliable, quality-assured national support services across the UK.

  • Support available for menopause and menopausal mental health, including local specialists, online spaces, and wellbeing guides.

  • Read this article to find out more about the OU's involvement in this network.

Mind

  • A UK-based charity focusing on providing information and support to anyone experiencing mental health problems.

  • They look at the effect menopause has on our mental health, outside of well-known physical symptoms.

  • Learn how menopause can impact emotions and sleep, and the influence our hormones have on the changes that happen during menopause.

NHS menopause site

  • The NHS provides a useful overview of the menopause: a great place to get started in learning all about what the menopause is, and what you can do to help it.

  • Find information on the types of medicine treatments available, what to expect from your symptoms (and what to look out for), and some useful links to NHS services and charities providing further support.

  • Learn more about early or premature menopause, what influences it, and how to recognise it.

Henpicked

  • Founded by Deborah Garlick, who was awarded an honorary OU degree for her trailblazing work in raising awareness about menopause symptoms in the workplace.

  • Henpicked is an online community for 'women who weren't born yesterday' – it's a space for women to have their say, with the aim to bring about positive change.

  • They have a menopause hub packed with information about managing symptoms, nutrition, long-term health, and plenty more.

Queer menopause

  • Queer Menopause promotes inclusive resources for those who need them, with a mission of raising awareness of LGBTQIA+ experiences of menopause.

  • Check out the resources they've put together, including terminology, peer-reviewed research, and health links.
