    OU Ready Rebrand!

So, a few ideas here, but I would like to see the "understanding me as a learner" templates from Mel Green and her wonderful ideas added to the OU ready section of the first-year modules, so that students can send the templates to their tutors to explain their needs. The next addition I would like to see in the OU Ready is a template for a good essay structure, so that students have a better understanding of the structure they should aim for, including citations, references, and examples of academic writing. This could also be implemented within the first week of each module, so that no student misses these! I'd also suggest we add an AI guide that students can use to understand what is expected of them in their modules, so they can refer back to it when needed.

8:47am on 23 Aug 26 I know the 'understanding me as a learner' is getting quite a lot of traction within ECYS and possibly be extended to other WELS schools. It is a very useful document and could well support learners in other faculties. I guess the issue with having a template for essay structure is that all programmes are different. And it seems that different faculties use different referencing systems (for whatever reason) and that could cause some confusion. It's a shame there isn't a standardised approach across the university. An AI guide would be good- similar to the draft one we looked at last week. I asked if that would be used for all ECYS modules and apparently the response was 'ideally but changes to things/ resources move very slowly and it takes time to get approval' (or words to that effect. Just a few thoughts
