Hello there! I noticed that some of the student leadership pages have X accounts that you can follow (i.e. https://www.oustudents.com/student-leadership-team/sustainability-representative/ has @OpenSustainRep). X is proprietary and you have to have an account to view posts in full.
I'd love if the OpenSU used Bluesky or Mastodon to post social updates. Both of these platforms are open, decentralised, and accessible to anyone without having to register for an account. Mastodon in particular provides RSS feeds which makes posts accessible to anyone using any RSS reader.
The OU Library is already using Bluesky which I really appreciate: https://bsky.app/profile/oulibrary.bsky.social
One day I'd love a university policy that says that whenever X is used for an account, an alternate, equal, account on an open platform like Bluesky or Mastodon should be offered, such that those who don't want to use corporate social platforms can access the same information.
