Curriculum Suggestion: Integrating Access-style Reflection Points into Level 1+ Psychology Modules

Hi OpenSU Team, I am writing to share a constructive suggestion for the Level 1 and above Psychology curriculum (such as D110 and D120). Having previously studied an OU Access module (Y034), I found the structured reflection points embedded throughout the material incredibly valuable. They directly contributed to my understanding of the course material, my personal growth, and my ongoing study motivation. Moving up to Level 1 and beyond, I noticed these structured reflection points are less prominent. I believe adding similar, dedicated reflective sections into higher-level Psychology modules would greatly benefit students by: 1. Improving Material Understanding: Giving students a structured pause to synthesize complex psychological concepts. 2. Fostering Personal Growth: Helping distance learners connect academic theory to real-world or personal contexts. 3. Sustaining Motivation: Breaking up heavy reading blocks with engaging, self-reflective checkpoints. Could the OpenSU Student Representative team raise this as a formal learning design suggestion at the next Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Board of Studies meeting? Bridging this pedagogical gap between Access modules and Level 1 would greatly smooth the transition for future students. Thank you for your time and advocacy. Best regards, Chrissee James Z1378541

5:08pm on 19 Aug 26 This is a great suggestion, and I will pass it on to our FASS (Faculty of Arts and Social Science) rep for consideration. (I also study Psychology) Good luck in the rest of your study journey!
