Join OU Environmental Sustainability Society (OUESS) for a talk by OU graduate and conservation movement founder Lucy Grabe-Watson. Lucy will discuss her journey to founding a youth-led conservation organisation, alongside insights from working in the environmental sector and how her studies with the Open University influenced this path. She will also give an overview of her work to protect ancient woodlands and share practical reflections on how to start a social impact project.
Lucy Grabe-Watson is a youth campaigner, writer and ecological advocate working at the intersection of woodland protection, community engagement, and policy reform. As the founder of Ancient Woodlands UK, she leads a national movement to safeguard Britain’s ancient woodlands through youth-led advocacy, legal innovation, and public education. Lucy has worked extensively in forest environments and graduated from the OU in 2022 with a BSc Combined STEM, specialising in environmental science.
